~Towson University Student Art Show
Center for the Arts, Center for the Arts Gallery
Friday, November 21 - Saturday, December 13
Closed for Thanksgiving Break: Thursday, November 27- Saturday, November 29
Opening Reception: Thursday, November 20, 7:30- 9 p.m.
Gallery Hours: Tuesday- Saturday, 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.
The annual undergraduate juried exhibition features students works that represent the various tracks, including painting, sculpture, illustration, graphic design, metalworking/jewelry, ceramics, digital art and design, photography, and printmaking. Julie Ann Cavnor, the Executive Director of Maryland Art Place (MAP), is the juror for the exhibition.
Admission is free.
Selection was tough, especially for the sculpture department, but one piece I worked on was accepted (and supposedly awarded). This piece is all hand blown glass (thanks to McFadden Art Glass Baltimore), featuring a 10” diameter black “mace” sphere with colored spikes, and a bubble blown chain and wrapped handle. I’ll post pictures of it taken from the show.

~Glassblowing Open House
Friday, 11/21/08 7:00-10:00pm
McFadden Art Glass in Baltimore hosts an open house every first and third Friday of the month. These shows include live glassblowing demos in which Tim McFadden creates complicated and difficult forms and vessels for the crowd. Assistants sometimes include Simon Pierce professional artisans- this Friday, I’ll be assisting (hopefully I won’t burn my arms like last time). The Glass Grill is next door and offers a fantastic menu. Oh, and $5 pitchers! Last time, Capitan Morgan himself came to the show and handed out free rum shots. Yum! The event is free, but you can choose to pay $35 to pull your own custom glass flower.

~Shit Show
Saturday, 11/22/08
My band is “Diving Belle” – Shit Show= Open art, music, and merriment. Fantastic!

Music starts at 4:00pm. Performers include Diving Bell, The LIGHT Trees and others and between sets improvisation from anyone who wants to make some music.

Bring some art for the walls. Yes, even you ought to bring some art.

Possible craft times will also happen including make your own instrument and yadda.

Music will end at 9pm and then party time.
Basically a full day dedicated to art, music and people. Always the best way to spend a saturday.

$5 dollars.
keg. liquor. jungle juice perhaps.
